More than 2 million foreign tourists visited Korea last month. That was up 19% from the same month a year earlier.
According to the April Korea tourism statistics released by the Korea Tourism Organization (KTO) on the 21st, 2,027,860 foreign tourists visited Korea in April. That was an 18.8% increase from 1,707,113 tourists in the same month a year earlier.
By nationality, the most visitors came from China (574,000). They were followed by Japan (304,000), Taiwan (193,000), the United States (173,000), and the Philippines (77,000).
Cumulative arrivals from January to April this year totaled 6.77 million, up 21.4% from a year earlier. Compared with 2019, before the COVID-19 pandemic, they increased 123.6%.
The number of Korean tourists traveling abroad was 2,285,843, up 6.3% from the same month a year earlier. Cumulative outbound Korean tourists from January to April reached 10.62 million.
