Busan City is recruiting the "Run Busan Running Crew" to spread a safe running culture. It will teach basic running etiquette such as "pedestrians first" and "refrain from excessive cheering," and plans to support citizens so they can run safely.
Busan City said on the 21st that it will run the "Run Busan Running Crew," a recreational sports running program, from the 28th through November.
"Run Busan Running Crew" is a Busan-specialized recreational sports program that expands opportunities to participate in sports for all under the slogan "The joy of running together, let's run Busan," using the city's beautiful natural scenery such as beaches, riversides, and parks.
Under the systematic guidance of professional coaches, the city plans to support citizens so they can keep up running in daily life by learning pre- and post-run stretching, basic running form, pace control, injury prevention and recovery methods, and group running practice.
There will be two running courses: Suyeong River and Dadaepo. The Suyeong River course will run every Thursday from 7 p.m., centered on the outdoor stage at APEC Naroo Park. The Dadaepo course will run every Saturday from 10 a.m., centered on the Dadaepo Runner Support Space, the first runner support space in Busan.
The city plans to operate the program so that both participants and citizens can use the spaces safely and comfortably through on-site guidance and safety management.
It will also provide basic "runtiquette" education to participants so they do not engage in behaviors that could inconvenience pedestrians, such as pedestrians first, refraining from reckless passing, and refraining from excessive clapping and cheering (noise).
Through the "Running Crew," the city plans to carry the citizen participation momentum into the "Run Busan Running Festival," to be held for the first time this year in November, and the "Busan International Marathon" in December, spreading a healthy running culture throughout Busan.
Acting Busan Mayor Kim Gyeong-deok said, "We will expand infrastructure and programs so that anyone can enjoy running easily and safely nearby, and make Busan a 'city good for running' based on a mature running culture that considers one another."
