The National Fire Agency said on the 20th it will hold the Fire Information System Standards Council, a gathering of information and communications experts from fire headquarters nationwide, at EXCO in Daegu, where the 2026 International Fire Safety Expo will take place.
At the council on the 21st, the agency will explain the design direction and implementation plan for building the next-generation 119 integrated system and review 56 standard agenda items for the fire information system.
The National Fire Agency plans to integrate artificial intelligence (AI) and cloud technology into the next-generation 119 integrated system to break down data barriers among provinces and cities. The goal is to enable response without regard to jurisdiction when major disasters occur.
Agenda items that pass deliberation, such as the emergency rescue standard system, will be pursued as short- and midterm tasks, respectively. The National Fire Agency said it expects to bridge regional information gaps and improve the efficiency of disaster management.
National Fire Agency Commissioner Kim Seung-ryong said, "Stabilizing the information system that underpins operations is essential to handle more than about 11 million 119 calls annually swiftly and accurately," adding, "We will carefully review the 56 agenda items proposed in the field and further raise the quality of safety services that the public can feel."
