A plastic surgery clinic director accused of supplying propofol to a driver who, under the influence of drugs, crashed a Porsche off Seoul's Banpo Bridge has been sent to prosecutors.
According to police on the 19th, the Yongsan Police Station in Seoul arrested and referred to prosecutors on the 15th the plastic surgery clinic director A, in her 40s, in Seocho District, Seoul, on suspicion of violating the Narcotics Control Act.
A is accused of abusing narcotics by administering propofol in excess or even when anesthesia was not necessary to about 10 patients at the clinic since August last year. She was also charged with neglecting supervision and management of narcotics at the clinic.
The investigation began with a crash on Feb. 25, when a Porsche driving on Banpo Bridge broke through the railing and plunged onto the Han River riverside under Jamsu Bridge. Police found that the driver had injected propofol provided by a former nursing assistant before driving.
Police raided the hospital where the nursing assistant had worked, securing prescriptions and records of pharmaceutical inflows and outflows as they expanded the probe.
The Porsche driver has been indicted on charges of violating the Narcotics Control Act, drugged driving, and injuring by dangerous driving, and the former nursing assistant who provided the propofol is also on trial for violating the Narcotics Control Act.
