A man in his 20s was arrested for a "random assault" on a woman walking down the street in Gangnam, Seoul.
According to police on the 18th, the Gangnam Police Station recently arrested a man in his 20s, identified as A, on charges of causing injury and assault.
A is accused of assaulting a woman he saw for the first time in an alley near Sinnonhyeon Station in Gangnam-gu at about 8:30 p.m. on the 12th.
A was found to have left a restaurant after drinking and struck the woman in the face and elsewhere as she was walking by.
Police who responded to a report at the time arrested A in the act. The victim suffered injuries that will take two weeks to heal, reports said.
In a police interview, A is said to have stated to the effect that "it looked like she was staring at me." The specific circumstances of the incident is under investigation.
