President Lee Jae-myung said, "Both the person asked and the person asking for private revenge-for-hire are committing a serious crime."
On the 15th, the president said on X, "In a modern, civilized nation, private disputes must be resolved under the rule of law," and stated accordingly. The president also said, "Should anyone ruin a life over something thought to be trivial?"
The president also posted a photo that appeared to show part of a public safety report. The report in the photo said, "On the early morning of the 13th, at an apartment in Cheongna-dong, Seo District, Incheon, an incident occurred in which paint was applied to the front entrance and eggs and other food were splattered," and included that the "police are tracking a suspect disguised as a quick-service courier and are currently investigating any link to a revenge-for-hire case."
It went on to say, "Revenge-for-hire crimes using Telegram first occurred in Aug. 2025 in Daegu, and there are currently 69 cases," adding, "Among these, 60 cases have led to the apprehension of 50 suspects, and 14 have been arrested."
