Elon Musk, the Tesla CEO who accompanied U.S. President Donald Trump on his trip to China, drew attention on the 14th (local time) by bringing his 6-year-old son X to the summit venue. X is the son Musk had in 2020 with Canadian singer Grimes.
On social media (SNS) X, videos featuring Musk and his son spread quickly. In the footage, Musk arrived with his son at the Great Hall of the People in Beijing, where the summit between President Trump and Chinese President Xi Jinping was held. X appeared wearing a Chinese-style vest and holding a traditional Chinese bag shaped like a tiger's face in one hand.
Musk also posed for commemorative photos with U.S. government officials together with his son. He lifted his son onto his shoulders for the photos. He also posted on X, "Our son is learning Mandarin (standard Chinese)."
X users reacted to the related videos with comments such as "Musk is doing a very Musk-like thing" and "The child is so cute." But there was also criticism that said, "Putting a 6-year-old on display like a prop is truly insane."
Meanwhile, X previously drew attention when he followed Musk to the White House in the United States. At the time, President Trump and Musk were holding a press conference, and X asked Musk to pick him up and rode on his shoulders. He also took off Musk's hat and touched his ears.
