An initial finding of "injury due to a fall" was made after examining the body of elementary school student A, 11, who was found dead after going missing in Juwangsan National Park in Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang.
According to the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency and the Daegu District Prosecutors' Office on the 12th, the postmortem examination of A confirmed this finding.
Whether to conduct an autopsy to determine the additional cause of death is expected to be decided during the day.
On the 10th, A visited Juwangsan National Park with family, then set out to hike alone and went missing after contact was lost.
Police, firefighters, the Korea National Park Service, and others deployed more than 350 personnel, as well as helicopters, drones, and rescue dogs, to conduct a search, and at about 10:13 a.m. on the 12th, they found A dead in a thicket about 400 meters toward Juwangam near the main peak of Juwangsan.
Police are investigating the exact circumstances based on the postmortem findings and the scene.
