Chef Anh Sung-jae's YouTube channel has decided to suspend operations for the time being. It appears to be fallout from the wine switch controversy that occurred at Mosu Seoul, the restaurant run by Anh Sung-jae.
The production team for Anh Sung-jae's YouTube channel said on the 13th, "To reassess the channel's direction, overall operations, and careful content production, we intend to take time to reorganize the channel for the time being."
They added, "We will work to return with a more responsible stance and good content for those who have cherished and watched the channel."
At Mosu Seoul on the 18th of last month, the staff should have served a 2000 vintage of "Château Léoville Barton" to a customer but served a 2005 vintage that was about 100,000 won cheaper. The customer raised an issue that the wrong wine had been served, posted that the sommelier said, "We will also let you taste the 2000 vintage," and the post sparked public outrage.
Mosu Seoul posted an apology on the 23rd of last month, and Anh Sung-jae apologized again on the 6th of this month. Through his social media (SNS), Anh Sung-jae said, "I once again sincerely apologize for the disappointing experience caused by inadequate service at Mosu," and added, "I once again deeply apologize to the customers who may have felt great disappointment in me over this matter."
However, on the day Anh Sung-jae posted the apology on SNS, a video was uploaded to the YouTube channel, leading to questions about sincerity. As of 6 p.m. that day, the video had about 2,700 comments. Many of the most-liked comments were critical, such as, "You were loved as a principled person, but those principles only applied to others," and "How many people have been fooled and eaten until now."
