Actor Lee Yi-kyung was investigated by the tax authorities and hit with a back tax assessment in the process of running a one-person corporation.
Lee Yi-kyung's agency, Sangyoung ENT, said on the 13th that it respects the National Tax Service's findings and will pay the imposed additional tax without delay in accordance with the relevant procedures.
The agency explained that the outcome arose from a difference in tax law interpretation between the authorities and the company regarding standards for expense treatment in the course of corporate operations, and that there was no intentional income omission or tax evasion of any kind.
It added that it will conduct an even more thorough review of its tax and accounting management systems to prevent similar issues from occurring in the future.
It did not disclose the size of the imposed additional tax.
