The Samsung Lions of professional baseball mourned an 11-year-old sixth-grade elementary school student, identified as A, who died after setting out alone on a hike in Juwangsan National Park in Cheongsong County, North Gyeongsang.
On the 12th, the Samsung Lions wrote on social media (SNS) in the name of the players and club executives and staff, "We sincerely pray for the repose of the deceased." They added, "We express deep sorrow and regret at the sudden sad news," and "We offer our heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family who lost their precious child."
On the 10th, A visited Juwangsan National Park with family while wearing a Samsung Lions uniform and cap. After setting out alone on a hike, A went missing and was found dead that morning.
After A was reported missing, posts praying for a safe return were uploaded one after another on Samsung Lions fan clubs and elsewhere, as A was seen at the time wearing a uniform and even blue shoes.
