Former baseball player Oh Seung-hwan has been appointed a special professor at the Daegu University Startup Support Group.
On the 11th, Daegu University said it appointed Oh Seung-hwan, formerly of the Samsung Lions of professional baseball, as a special professor at the Startup Support Group.
Accordingly, Special Professor Oh is expected to take part in various activities with the Daegu University Startup Support Group going forward, including special lectures on entrepreneurship and sports leadership and a motivation program for student and young founders.
At the appointment ceremony, Special Professor Oh said, "I want to share without reservation with the students the patience I learned from enduring countless crises on the mound and the sense of responsibility to do my best in any situation."
Lee Jae-hyeon, head of the Daegu University Startup Support Group, said, "Player Oh Seung-hwan is a symbolic figure who has constantly managed himself and taken on new stages," adding, "We expect he will be a role model that shows the challenge, perseverance, and responsibility required of a founder."
Special Professor Oh joined the Samsung Lions in 2005 and continued his playing career for 20 years before retiring in 2025. During his career, he played in Korea Baseball Organization (KBO), Nippon Professional Baseball (NPB), and Major League Baseball (MLB), and in 2021 he won the Best Reliever Award at the Professional Baseball Awards. He recorded a total of 549 saves across the professional leagues in Korea, the United States, and Japan.
