Two members of the online site "AVMOV"'s management, suspected of distributing illegal recordings targeting family members and romantic partners, were arrested by police immediately after entering the country.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency's cyber investigation unit said it arrested two people, including a person surnamed A, at about 6 a.m. on the 11th at Incheon International Airport's arrivals hall and is questioning them.
They left for Thailand in Aug. 2025 after police uncovered the site in Dec. 2025 and launched an investigation. It was reported that, after diplomatic measures such as passport invalidation made it difficult for them to remain there, they conveyed through their attorney their intention to voluntarily return.
Police are questioning them about their roles in running the site and how the illegal recordings were distributed. Police are also considering applying charges for violating the Act on Special Cases Concerning the Punishment, etc. of Sexual Crimes.
Earlier, police identified and booked nine suspects at the management level. For five of them, investigators carried out searches and seizures, securing evidence such as personal computers (PCs) and analyzing it, and another suspect will soon be subject to a compulsory investigation. With the two who had fled overseas now back in the country, police are also tracking the whereabouts of the remaining one.
AVMOV is a large-scale illegal site launched in Aug. 2022. Users shared secretly recorded videos of acquaintances or romantic partners, or paid with points to download illegal recordings, it was found. The number of subscribers reaches 540,000. Access to the site has been blocked by police action.
