Yoon & Yang LLC (representative attorney Lee Myung-su) said on the 7th that it has hired former Ulsan Nambu Police Station chief Kim Sang-moon as a partner attorney in its criminal response group.
After passing the 45th bar exam in 2003 and completing the Judicial Research and Training Institute, Attorney Kim entered the police. Starting as head of the investigations division at the Guri Police Station in 2006, Kim worked for about 20 years in police investigations and criminal affairs.
Kim served as chief of the Ulsan Nambu Police Station, chief of the Seoul Bangbae Police Station, and investigations review officer at the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. Kim also served as chief of the criminal division at the North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency and chief of the investigations division at the North Chungcheong Provincial Police Agency. Yoon & Yang said Attorney Kim gained broad experience with procedures ranging from opening to closing investigations and investigations review, having served from investigations division chief at frontline stations to criminal and investigations posts at provincial agencies and as a station chief.
Yoon & Yang plans to strengthen its capabilities in advocacy and defense rights at the police investigation stage through this hire. With the restructuring of the investigative framework, including the abolition of the Prosecution Service and the launch of a Serious Crimes Investigation Agency, increasing the weight of police investigations, the role of experts who understand police investigative practice is growing.
Yoon & Yang plans to build an integrated response system for criminal cases overall by combining the investigative practical experience of Attorney Kim with that of its former prosecutors. Earlier, Yoon & Yang reinforced its criminal response team by hiring former third deputy chief prosecutor of the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office Lee Sung-sik and former Busan Metropolitan Police Agency chief Lee Gyu-moon.
