Police will disclose the identity of Choi, 51, who is suspected of supplying drugs to so-called "drug kingpin" Park Wang-yeol.
The Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency's Narcotics and International Crime Investigation Unit held a committee meeting on the disclosure of personal information on the 6th and decided to release Choi's personal details, including name, age and face. However, because Choi did not submit confirmation of the disclosure decision, a five-day grace period for disclosure will be applied.
Choi's personal information is scheduled to be posted on the Gyeonggi Nambu Provincial Police Agency website for one month starting on the 12th.
Choi is suspected of operating on Telegram under names such as "Cheongdam" and "Cheongdam boss," and of smuggling into Korea or taking part in the distribution of narcotics worth a total of 10 billion won, including about 22 kg of methamphetamine, since 2019.
During the investigation into Park Wang-yeol, police identified Choi as a drug supplier and, in cooperation with Thai police, arrested Choi locally. Choi was extradited to Korea on the 1st and is currently investigating. A court issued an arrest warrant for Choi on the 3rd.
