Korea University said on the 6th that it held a commemorative ceremony and a Korea University Alumni Day event to mark the 121st anniversary of its founding.
At the event held on the previous day, Hur Kwang-soo, chair of Samyang International (class of '65 in business administration), and others received the "Proud Korea University Alumni Award." Hur was recognized for contributing to the national economy through more than half a century as a business executive.
Hur in 2023 donated 300 million won to the Korea University sports center improvement project and has supported his alma mater steadily for over 20 years.
Gwak Young-gil, chair of Aju Economy (class of '74 in English language and literature), and An Seong-ho, CEO of Ace Bed (class of '87 in geology), each received the Proud Korea University Alumni Award for contributions to Korean media and for growing Ace Bed into a global brand.
The Achievement Award for Development, given to those who have continuously contributed to the advancement of Korea University, went to Kim Dae-young, CEO of KNET Investment Partners (class of '81 in public administration and sociology), and Yu Chang-su, CEO of Eugene Investment & Securities (class of '81 in sociology).
