A man in his 60s killed his ex-wife and then jumped to his death.
According to police on May 4, the Ulsan Northern Police Station received a report at about 11:48 a.m. on the 2nd from A, a man in his 60s, saying, "I killed my wife."
Police and fire authorities responded to the report, but A was found dead after jumping from an apartment two minutes after the call.
A's ex-wife, B, was found in the apartment living room collapsed from stab wounds. B was taken by 119 paramedics to a nearby hospital but died.
No suicide note was found at the scene.
Police said the two had divorced in early last month, and that B was believed to have been killed after visiting A's home on the day of the incident to pack belongings.
B had reportedly already been issued a smartwatch last year. A police official said, "There is a record of issuing a smartwatch in the past as part of a provisional measure," adding, "However, after the provisional measure was lifted in Aug. last year, the two proceeded with a normal divorce process."
The official added, "We are investigating details, including whether a third party was involved," and said, "As the suspect A has died, the case is expected to be closed as 'no right of indictment.'"
