Bae, Kim & Lee LLC said it has brought on adviser Oh Byung-kwon to strengthen its capabilities in public and regulatory response.
Adviser Oh is an administrative expert who served as Gyeonggi Province's first vice governor for administrative affairs and director general for natural disaster policy at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety. Bae, Kim & Lee plans to bolster its advisory capabilities in public policy, local administration, and disaster and safety to respond to a regulatory environment where central government policy, local government administration, and on-site execution are interlinked.
A 36th class passer of the higher civil service exam, Oh handled policy planning and administrative duties at the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, the presidential office, and the Presidential Commission on Policy Planning. While serving as a counselor at the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in the United Kingdom, Oh also carried out international cooperation work.
Afterward, Oh served as Gyeonggi Province's director general for economy and Deputy Minister for Planning and Coordination, as well as vice mayor of Bucheon, before becoming the 36th first vice governor for administrative affairs of Gyeonggi Province. At the Ministry of the Interior and Safety, Oh served as director general for local government finance policy and director general for natural disaster policy, overseeing local government finance operations and disaster and safety policy.
Oh is set to provide advisory services on public policy, local administration, and disaster and safety regulatory response at Bae, Kim & Lee's regulatory group and the Disaster and Safety Strategy Research Institute.
Woo Byung-ryeol, head of Bae, Kim & Lee's regulatory group, said, "The regulatory environment surrounding corporations is changing in a direction where policy formulation and administrative execution are closely connected," adding, "based on Adviser Oh's experience, we will strengthen our advisory capabilities for corporations' regulatory response."
