Rain will continue through the morning on the 4th, mainly in the central region and Honam, then most of the country will be mostly clear on the 5th, Children's Day.
According to the Korea Meteorological Administration on the 3rd, low pressure moving from the northern West Sea to the East Sea brought rain nationwide. In the Seoul metropolitan area, inland Chungcheong, eastern Jeolla, and Jeju, rain is expected through early morning on the 4th, and in Gangwon and northern Gyeonggi, through the morning on the 4th.
In the highlands of Gangwon with lower temperatures (above 1,000 meters above sea level), snow may fall and accumulate about 1–5 cm. In Gangwon, where atmospheric instability is pronounced, there is also a chance of small hail, so caution is advised.
Expected precipitation is 5–30 mm in Gangwon; 5–20 mm in the Seoul metropolitan area; 5–10 mm in Chungcheong, North Jeolla, and the five West Sea islands; and less than 5 mm in some areas of Gwangju, South Jeolla, North Gyeongsang, and Jeju.
Strong winds will accompany the rain. In most areas on the 4th, gusts are expected to be around 55 kph (70 kph in the mountains). In the Gangwon highlands and along the East Sea coast, strong winds may continue through the 5th.
Rough seas are also expected. In the outer central West Sea, the seas around Jeju, and the far southern waters, winds will blow at 30–60 kph and waves will run 1.5–4.0 meters high through the morning on the 4th; in the far southern East Sea, through late afternoon on the 4th.
From late tonight, there is also a possibility that high seas advisories will be issued mainly for the far West Sea and far East Sea.
Even after the rain stops, under the influence of cold air on the rear side of the low pressure system, temperatures will remain somewhat below normal through Children's Day.
On the 4th, morning lows are forecast at 7–11 degrees and daytime highs at 16–21 degrees. On the 5th, Children's Day, morning temperatures will be 4–13 degrees and daytime highs 18–24 degrees, with inland areas seeing diurnal ranges of around 15 degrees.
