From cars roaring through stunt driving to new imported models and rare tuned cars, the area around Mode Expo Plaza in Boryung will turn into a massive auto festival venue for two days. Off-road rides on unpaved roads and high-performance ride-along events are also planned, expected to draw family visitors ahead of the Children's Day holiday.
Boryung city said on the 30th that it will hold the "2026 Boryung·AMC International Motor Festival" at the Mud Expo Plaza in Daecheon Beach from May 2 to 3.
Marking its 17th year, the event is considered the largest urban motor festival in Korea. Boryung city and Ajou Motor College co-host it. It is seen as a representative industry-academia collaboration that combines local tourism assets with the university's automotive expertise. More than 200,000 visitors came last year.
This year's event will feature a variety of motorsports content. The headline programs are gymkhana, which races through obstacles set in a limited space, and a drift show, where cars slide and spin. More than 300 vehicles will be on display, including new imported models, tuned cars, and racing cars.
Hands-on programs where visitors can feel the speed themselves are also prepared. Ride-along gymkhana and drift experiences with professional drivers will be offered. An off-road program to experience rough-terrain performance will also run. The city plans to accommodate up to 2,000 participants per day.
Programs for family visitors will also be held for the Children's Day holiday. Events include a children's drawing contest, electric kart rides, and robot character cosplay.
Boryung city will also host the "2026 Boryung Children's Day Commemorative Event" in connection with this festival. In the children's experience area, various hands-on programs will be offered, including sea-glass keyrings, keycaps, picture frames, perfumes, and soaps. At 10:30 a.m. on May 2 at the Boryeong Mud Theme Park convention hall, celebratory events will continue, starting with a pre-ceremony performance of K-pop dance and a bubble show, followed by the reading of the Children's Charter and a puppet show.
Boryung Mayor Kim Dong-il said, "To mark Children's Day, we prepared a special time that blends the excitement of the motor festival with the joy of a children's celebration," and added, "We hope children and parents create happy memories together."
