At about 7:27 p.m. on the 29th, a fire broke out at an insulation manufacturing plant in Yeonpyeong-ri, Jinjeop-eup, Namyangju, Gyeonggi.
The fire authorities issued "response level 1" at about 7:49 p.m., 22 minutes after the fire started. Thirty-nine pieces of equipment and 70 personnel were mobilized, and the fire was fully extinguished at about 9:33 p.m.
Response level 1 is an alert that mobilizes personnel and equipment from up to four nearby fire stations. Depending on the scale of the fire and the extent of the damage, it is expanded to response levels 2–3.
One factory official in his 50s suffered second-degree burns to the nose and hand in the fire and was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Property damage also occurred, including two to three factory buildings burning.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the damage is under investigation.
Namyangju City said in a safety text alert, "A large amount of smoke is occurring, so nearby residents should be cautious to avoid safety accidents."
