The Seoul city government said on the 29th that 10,247 people rode the Hangang Bus over the weekend of Apr. 25-26. That was up 15.2% from 8,897 on the first weekend of April, Apr. 4-5.
As a result, Hangang Bus ridership in April for about a month topped 70,000. That is the highest monthly figure since service began. Considering the remaining three days, the Seoul city government expected more than 75,000 people to use the Hangang Bus this month.
Starting May 1, the Seoul city government will also operate a temporary dock near Seoul Forest. The move is intended to increase capacity in connection with the "International Garden Exposition," which will be held at Seoul Forest from May 1 to Oct. 27. It also plans to launch a special direct route for the "Seoul International Garden Exposition" linking Yeouido Dock and the (temporary) Seoul Forest Dock.
Park Jin-Young, head of the Future Hangang Headquarters at the Seoul city government, said, "As the Hangang Bus sets a monthly record for users, it is taking root as a waterway transportation mode that meets both daily commuting and tourism demand," and added, "Starting in May, we will open a temporary dock so people can visit the International Garden Exposition at Seoul Forest by taking the Hangang Bus, improving convenience for residents."
