Yongin, Gyeonggi Province, said on the 28th that it held a "first-half local government tax and non-tax revenue arrears collection measures briefing" in the city hall video conference room.
The briefing was attended by four departments in the local government tax field and nine department heads in the non-tax revenue field with either an outstanding amount of 300 million won or more or 300 or more unpaid cases as of December last year.
Yongin analyzed the reasons for this year's carried-over arrears in local government tax and non-tax revenue and established tailored measures by department. By identifying the causes of arrears by tax item and collecting efficiently, it plans to encourage payment through real and movable property seizures, residential searches, travel bans, and restrictions on licensed business.
For livelihood-driven delinquents, the city will encourage installment payments and, along with on-site surveys, continue to manage arrears through post-management after deferring disposition.
A Yongin official said, "We will strengthen collection activities through strict administrative sanctions against willful and habitual tax evaders and realize tax justice with tailored collections that offer a chance at recovery to livelihood-driven delinquents."
