Prosecutors have sought arrest warrants for two suspects in the injury-causing-death case of the late film director Kim Chang-min.
The Namyangju Branch of the Uijeongbu District Prosecutors Office said the dedicated investigation team on the 28th requested arrest warrants for two suspects who inflicted injuries on Director Kim that led to death.
The dedicated investigation team said, "In the suspects' pre-arrest interrogation (warrant substantive review), we plan to present specific views on the substantiality of the charges and the need for detention," adding, "We will ensure that the suspects receive punishment commensurate with their crimes."
The individuals for whom arrest warrants were requested are accused of beating Director Kim to death after a dispute over noise at a restaurant in Guri, Gyeonggi Province, on Oct. 20 last year.
After losing consciousness from the assault, Director Kim was taken to a hospital but did not regain consciousness. He was eventually declared brain-dead, donated organs to four people, and died.
