A Namsung in his 50s was taken into police custody on suspicion of posting a threatening message on social media (SNS) targeting President Lee Jae-myung.
The Seoul Gangseo Police Station said on the 28th it booked A, a Namsung in his 50s, on suspicion of intimidation and is investigating.
A is accused of posting on the 25th on his SNS a message reading, "I'm going to Osan to catch President Lee Jae-myung," along with a photo of himself holding a long sword.
Police identified A after receiving a report, and A complied with the police summons and was questioned on the 26th.
A reportedly told police to the effect that he posted it because he was dissatisfied with the current political situation. The long sword in the photo A uploaded to SNS was confirmed to be a toy sword.
Police plan to conduct additional questioning of A.
