The second special counsel said in a media notice on the 27th that it had sent a summons notifying former President Yoon Suk-yeol to appear on the 30th. The second special counsel is investigating cases that the three major special counsels on insurrection, Kim Keon-hee, and the Marines did not conclude.
If former President Yoon Suk-yeol appears on the 30th, he will undergo the first summons investigation by the second special counsel. A day earlier, on the 29th, a ruling is scheduled in the appellate trial on Yoon's alleged obstruction of an arrest.
The second special counsel said it was not possible to confirm specific cases or Yoon's status (whether a suspect or a reference) in connection with the summons, adding that it was not related to the Defense Counterintelligence Command blacklist allegations.
However, it is still unclear whether Yoon will comply with the second special counsel's summons. If Yoon is being called as a reference, the special counsel has no means to compel attendance.
