Entertainer Hong Seok-cheon rescued a local woman who collapsed at the site of Songkran, Thailand's biggest festival.
On the 23rd, through Instagram, Hong said, "I was invited as a festival DJ, so I, too, tried taking part in this Songkran," and explained, "While enjoying another festival with younger colleagues, I moved a Thai woman who had collapsed from drinking and hypothermia to a safe place, and I was relieved it didn't lead to a major accident."
In the video released under the title "Songkran accident, safety comes first," the collapsed woman was carried on a man's back. During this, Hong held the woman's arm so she wouldn't fall and moved along with the man carrying her. Others enjoying the festival made way so the woman could be moved to a safe location.
Posting the video, Hong said, "Bangkok's Songkran festival is a New Year's water festival," adding, "Every year, accidents never stop." Songkran is one of the world's top 10 festivals and is held every April. It is known that Koreans also visit Thailand to enjoy the Songkran festival.
Regarding the Songkran festival, Hong said, "News reports say there were 191 deaths and hundreds of injuries this year," and added, "There are many traffic accidents, but there are also many young people who lose precious lives because of excessive drug use and drinking." Hong emphasized, "There will be various festivals this summer, and above all, I hope you enjoy them safely." He then said, "Youth is beautiful," but added, "Let's act responsibly."
