Five deer escaped from a deer farm in Gwangmyeong, Gyeonggi Province, and authorities halted the search at the farm owner's request.
According to Gwangmyeong city and fire authorities on the 23rd, on the 15th, five deer escaped from a deer farm in Okgil-dong, Gwangmyeong. Of the five that escaped, three were adults and two were fawns, authorities said. The farm owner realized the deer had escaped but reported it to 119 at 12:30 p.m. on the 22nd, a week later. It was reported that the owner did not report it immediately because deer tend to return to their pen if there is no food.
Fire authorities searched the area around the deer farm until 7:45 p.m. the previous day but did not find the deer. The search was then called off at the farm owner's request, who said, "I will look for them myself." The deer are believed to have gone up into the mountains, making it unlikely they will come down into residential areas.
A fire authority official said, "The farm owner said they would look in the morning and contact us again, so we are not conducting a separate search," adding, "If they report again, we will be dispatched then."
