A claim that a bank employee asked for cash during a visit after a first-prize lottery win is stirring controversy.
On the 21st, through the YouTube channel "Life Still the Same," YouTuber A explained the circumstances of a first-prize win in the Speedo 2000. A said two lottery tickets hit at the same time in 2022 for a total of 2 billion won, and the amount actually received after taxes was about 1.3 billion won.
A said, "I usually carry lottery tickets in my bag, and I scratched one during a broadcast and suddenly won," and added, "I couldn't believe it, so I screamed and even cried."
Regarding the procedures after the win, A said, "You call the number on the back of the ticket to get it verified, then make a reservation to visit the Donghaeng Lottery headquarters and do an interview," and added, "We had to wait several days even to confirm the win, and I stayed home the whole time for fear of losing the ticket. After that, you go to the designated bank to receive the prize money."
A continued, "The passbook-opening process dragged on, and the employee kept pitching financial products," and added, "Then the employee asked, 'Do you need cash?' and said, 'Just withdraw 300,000 won and buy the staff coffee.'" A said, "Winners could come in every day, so I didn't understand if they take money every time," and added, "I wondered whether they really buy coffee or use it personally. As time went by, I got annoyed and upset. In the end, I didn't withdraw cash and didn't give any money."
About the situation at the time, A said, "I said I didn't need it because carrying cash around for no reason could be dangerous, but they kept pushing. This kept happening, and as the process dragged on, my discomfort grew."
A also spoke about life after the win. A said, "I spent most on moving expenses and securing a home, and I also used it to replace my parents' car and pay off debt," and added, "Family finances weren't good, so even though it was a large sum, there wasn't a lot left over."
