Sejong LLC (Managing Partner Oh Jong-han) has brought on former Chief of Naval Operations Kim Jeong-su as an adviser in the defense and arms industry fields.
Sejong said former Chief of Naval Operations Kim Jeong-su (retired four-star admiral) has joined the arms industry and defense team. Kim, an alumnus of the Naval Academy's 41st class, was commissioned and served about 35 years in the Navy, the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), the Ministry of National Defense, and the presidential office. From 2021 to 2022, Kim served as the 35th chief of naval operations.
During the tenure, Kim served as commanding officer of the ROKS Gang Gam-chan, director of the conscription policy division at the Ministry of National Defense, chief secretary at Navy Headquarters, director of the test and evaluation bureau at the Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS), director of the plans and management staff at Navy Headquarters, and vice chief of naval operations. While serving as director of the plans and management staff at Navy Headquarters, Kim oversaw major force-building programs, including the mid-sized submarine, next-generation frigate, Korean Destroyer eXperimental (KDX), and light aircraft carrier.
Sejong said Kim will advise on defense and maritime policy, the defense industry, force development, and responses to military-related pending issues. It also cited growing demand to handle policy and regulatory issues that corporations face amid expanding arms exports and a shifting security environment as the backdrop for the hire.
Sejong Managing Partner Oh Jong-han said, "Adviser Kim Jung-soo is a figure with an understanding of and on-the-ground experience in arms industry and defense issues," adding, "We have secured more comprehensive advisory capabilities as related legal needs expand."
Sejong's arms industry and defense team is led by attorney Kim Young-hoon, the inaugural head of the Air Force Prosecutors' Office. Participants include adviser Lee Jae-ik in the fields of defense finance and defense procurement; adviser Kang Joong-hee, formerly head of the aircraft business division at the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; attorneys Cho In-hyung, Shin Dong-wook, and Kim Sung-jin, who have practical experience with the military and the Defense Acquisition Program Administration; and a senior specialist formerly a military prosecutor's investigator. Based on this roster, Sejong provides advisory services across the arms industry and defense fields.
