Song Min-ho (33), formerly of the group Winner, will face a first trial over allegations that he performed inadequately while serving as a social service worker.
According to legal sources, the Seoul Western District Court Criminal Division 10 single-judge panel will hold the first court hearing on charges of violating the Military Service Act against Song Min-ho and A, the person responsible for managing his service.
From March 2023 to December 2024, while working as a social service worker at a facility in Mapo District, Song Min-ho is accused of habitual leave and sick leave, failing to report to work properly, and neglecting his duties. A was indicted alongside him on charges of lax supervision despite being aware of Song's poor work performance.
Prosecutors say that during his social service period, excluding weekends and holidays, Song Min-ho was absent without leave for 102 out of roughly 430 actual workdays.
Under Article 89-2 of the Military Service Act, if a social service worker "abandons service for a total of 8 days or more without justifiable reason," the person can face up to 3 years in prison.
During prior police and prosecution investigations, Song Min-ho was said to have largely acknowledged allegations such as leaving his post during working hours.
