In Busan, a woman in her 70s who could not accept her mother's death moved the body to her home ahead of cremation.
According to the Saha Police Station in Busan on the 21st, the mother of a woman in her 70s, identified as A, identified as B, died on the 15th. Afterward, A obtained a death certificate and planned a three-day funeral. However, on the 18th, while en route to a crematorium, A reportedly claimed "my mother is alive" and moved the body to her home in Saha-gu.
Police, Saha-gu officials, and welfare center staff, who responded to a report from the funeral director, persuaded A, and B's body was transferred to a hospital morgue near the home.
A is reportedly currently hospitalized. Police and Saha-gu contacted A's other family members to proceed with the funeral, but they were either unreachable or showed no intention to hold the funeral. A Saha-gu official said, "If A's condition improves, we plan to obtain consent for an unclaimed-person funeral and proceed with cremation."
