BAE, KIM & LEE LLC said on the 21st that it has hired Song Guk-il, former head of the Central Accident Investigation Unit at the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA), as an adviser.
Song worked in the engineering division at SK Chemicals, handling design and construction for oil and chemical plants. He then worked for about 30 years at the Korea Occupational Safety & Health Agency (KOSHA) in industrial safety, including certification of hazardous machinery and equipment, risk assessment, audits of the safety and health management system (KOSHA-MS), and safety diagnostics.
Starting in 2018, he served as head of the headquarters' special investigation team for serious accidents, head of the Daegu Metropolitan Accident Investigation Center, and then head of the Central Accident Investigation Unit. Song, who handled investigations into major serious accident cases in Korea, received a commendation from the Minister of the Interior and Safety in 2018 for his contributions to disaster situation management. In 2022, he received a commendation from the Minister of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) in recognition of his efforts to prevent industrial accidents.
Song will be affiliated with Bae, Kim & Lee's labor and employment group, the serious accident response headquarters, and the disaster safety strategy institute, and will provide advice on industrial safety consulting and responses to serious accidents.
Lee Hyeong-seok, managing partner at Bae, Kim & Lee and head of the serious accident response headquarters, said, "With Song joining, we can improve the quality of our advice on industrial safety and serious accidents," adding, "Through collaboration with Song, who has on-site expertise, we will help clients respond to real risk factors."
Meanwhile, Bae, Kim & Lee has also hired former Vice Minister of the Ministry of Employment and Labor (MOEL) Park Hwa-jin and attorney Park Eun-jeong, a former Supreme Court research judge. Bae, Kim & Lee operates the serious accident response headquarters and the disaster safety strategy institute, providing legal services on industrial safety and the Serious Accidents Punishment Act.
