Fire authorities brought a wildfire under control about an hour after it broke out in Yeongyang County, North Gyeongsang.
According to fire authorities on the 19th, a fire broke out at about 10:35 a.m. on a hill in Ogi-ri, Subi-myeon, Yeongyang County, North Gyeongsang, and suppression efforts were carried out.
When the fire started, Yeongyang County was said to have sent a safety text message advising nearby residents and hikers to evacuate.
The fire department deployed 88 personnel, nine firefighting helicopters, and 31 suppression vehicles, and extinguished the main blaze at about 11:45 a.m., 1 hour and 10 minutes later.
Authorities plan to investigate the exact area burned and property damage as soon as they finish extinguishing remaining embers.
