Police launched an investigation after a worker in his 60s died at the construction site of the Gyeongnam Honorsville apartment complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin, Gyeonggi.
According to the Yongin Dongbu Police Station on the 18th, at about 2:04 p.m. on the 17th, a person identified as A collapsed at the construction site of the Gyeongnam Honorsville apartment complex in Cheoin-gu, Yongin. A was taken to a hospital in cardiac arrest and later died. A is believed to have had the accident while installing a pump to drain water pooled in a pit.
Police believe A died of electrocution and are investigating, including conducting an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Police said that if violations of safety rules are found, those involved will be booked on suspicion of occupational manslaughter by negligence.
The apartment complex consists of 13 buildings with three underground floors and 29 above ground, totaling 997 units, and is scheduled for completion in Dec. 2028. The builder is SM Steel's construction division.
