Bae, Kim & Lee LLC (Managing Partner Kim Sang-gon) has hired attorney Jeong Se-jin, an expert in personal data, information security, and digital finance.
Bae, Kim & Lee said on the 16th that Jeong joined the TMT·DPC Group. Jeong is an attorney who has built advisory experience in areas such as personal data processing and use of pseudonymized data, financial data governance, and Fintech regulation. Jeong is currently serving as counsel to the Personal Information Protection Commission, a Commissioner of the Personal Information Technology Forum, and counsel to the Ministry of Science and ICT.
Jeong also has experience in the financial sector. Jeong served as an advisor to the Digital and IT Subcommittee of the Financial Supervisory Service's Financial Supervision Advisory Committee, and as an adequacy evaluator for data specialist institutions at the Korea Credit Information Services and commercial banks. Jeong also served as a member of the operating committee of the Seoul FinTech Lab under the Seoul Metropolitan Government and as a specialist in innovative finance at the Korea Fintech Support Center. This background combines work in data regulation, digital finance, and the operation of Fintech systems.
Jeong graduated from the Department of Electrical, Electronic and Radio Engineering at Korea University and earned a master's in electrical and electronic engineering from the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST), then worked at the Digital TV Research Center of LG Electronics. After graduating from the law school of Sungkyunkwan University and passing the bar exam, Jeong handled corporate advisory and dispute matters at Kim & Chang and YulChon. Jeong also completed coursework for a doctorate at the Graduate School of Information Security at Korea University.
Bae, Kim & Lee expects the hire to enable responses that combine technical understanding with existing advisory services in information technology, intellectual property, and financial regulation. In particular, the firm plans to strengthen practical support for matters where personal data and information security regulations intertwine in the course of AI and data use and cloud migration.
