Lee & Ko said on the 15th that it launched the "management control disputes center" by expanding and reorganizing its existing management control disputes task force.
Through the launch of this center, the firm said it plans to provide more specialized and comprehensive legal services in responding to management control disputes and shareholder activism. The firm explained that the launch reflects an organizational expansion and reorganization in response to a sharp rise in demand from corporations for management control defense and governance response.
Attorney Jeong Daju (Judicial Research and Training Institute class 31) and attorney Lee Sejung (class 32) will serve as co-heads of the center. Jeong worked at the National Court Administration and has built extensive experience in major lawsuits over management control disputes that drew heavy market attention, including those involving SM Entertainment and Kolmar Korea. Lee has been a key partner in the firm's corporate advisory group and has advised on numerous complex merger and acquisition (M&A) transactions, management control disputes, and responses to shareholder activism.
The center consists of a management control disputes team and a shareholder activism response team. The management control disputes team mainly handles traditional disputes over corporations' management control. Attorney Jang Ijun (class 39), who has handled many management control dispute cases, serves as Head of Team.
The shareholder activism response team specializes in advisory work responding to activist funds and small-shareholder alliances. Attorney Kim Yuseok (class 37), who built advisory experience in the firm's corporate advisory group, serves as Head of Team. The firm said its services go beyond simple legal advice, providing integrated counsel from a strategic consulting perspective that encompasses corporate governance strategy and capital market response strategy.
Attorney Jeong Daju, co-head of the management control disputes center, said, "Lee & Ko's greatest strength lies in its structure of organically collaborating across specialists in diverse fields," adding, "In addition to corporate advisory group specialists in management control disputes and shareholder activism, a range of experts including the litigation team and the ESG team will rally under the name 'management control disputes center' to deliver differentiated synergy."
