Pastor Jeon Kwang-hoon of Sarang Jeil Church, who was indicted and detained on charges of orchestrating the Seoul Western District Court disturbance and later released on bail, was reported for violating his bail conditions.
The civic group Candlelight Action said in a press release on the 14th that it filed a complaint with the Seoul Western District Prosecutors' Office against Jeon on charges including incitement to insurrection.
Earlier, Jeon posted a 100 million won bond and received bail on the 7th on the condition that he would not directly or indirectly contact those involved in the Western District Court disturbance.
Candlelight Action argued that Jeon violated his bail conditions by delivering a sermon via video at a weekend service held at Gwanghwamun Square on the 12th. At the time, Jeon said statements such as "We won" and "1.2 million people must gather at Gwanghwamun to bring this to an end."
In the complaint, Candlelight Action said, "Jeon in effect participated in the rally and made clear an intent to influence the trial through indirect contact with individuals related to the case," and argued that "he continued to agitate, asserting his innocence and again invoking the 'people's right of resistance.'"
It added, "Jeon previously violated bail conditions and was reimprisoned, yet he has again committed crimes warranting detention and is causing social disorder," and said, "His bail should be immediately revoked, he should be rearrested, and he should be sternly punished."
