Neukgu, the wolf that escaped from Daejeon O-World Safari, broke through a search team's encirclement and fled on the morning of the 14th, while the tipster disclosed details of the chase and photos taken at the time.
The tipster said on social media (SNS) that day that they "were out looking for Neukgu and it was right in front of us," adding they "ended up seeing it while driving a car around the mountain side to find Neukgu."
The tipster is known to be the person who reported to fire authorities at about 10:40 p.m. the previous day that they had spotted Neukgu in the Musudong area of Jung District, Daejeon, and who submitted the footage.
In the video, Neukgu looked healthier than expected and, even after seeing the tipster, did not startle much and calmly walked down the road away.
The tipster said, "Neukgu, I wanted to see you," and cheered for the capture, saying, "Let's go home now. We searched for you for six days and couldn't find you, and you finally showed up." However, after the failed attempt to capture Neukgu that morning, the tipster also relayed, "We failed to capture Neukgu right before its eyes and are searching again."
Fire authorities who received the report located Neukgu about 1.8 kilometers from O-World. At about 6 a.m. on the 14th, they attempted a capture using a tranquilizer gun and a capture net, but it is known they could not even fire the tranquilizer gun because Neukgu ran off.
They are now using drones to track Neukgu's location again.
