Police investigating additional crimes by "drug king" Park Wang-yeol said they found no link to the Burning Sun club in Gangnam District, Seoul.
Park Seong-ju, head of the National Office of Investigation (NOI), said at a regular press briefing on the 13th, "There are no investigations involving politicians or entertainers related to the Park Wang-yeol case, and no connection with Burning Sun has been confirmed."
The Deputy Minister said, "A total of 16 cases—seven merged with existing cases related to the Park Wang-yeol case and nine additional offenses identified—have been completed or are underway," adding, "As the investigation is ongoing, additional offenses may increase, and we will continue to check for connections whenever additional offenses are confirmed through a full review."
It is expected to take time procedurally to extradite a nephew surnamed Lee, identified as an accomplice of Park Wang-yeol. The Deputy Minister said, "An investigation into Lee is underway by Philippine investigative authorities," adding, "It appears it will take some time under the extradition treaty."
