At a fire scene at a cold storage warehouse in Wando, South Jeolla, two firefighters became trapped while working to put out the blaze; one died and one is missing.
According to fire authorities on the 12th, at about 8:25 a.m. a fire broke out at a cold storage warehouse in Gunoe-myeon, Wando County, South Jeolla.
Two people, including a senior firefighter surnamed Park, 44, and a firefighter surnamed Noh, 31, who were working to extinguish the fire, became trapped in the warehouse. Park was found in cardiac arrest, and Noh has not yet been found.
One employee of the company inhaled smoke and was taken to a hospital, but the person's life is not in danger.
Authorities have deployed 115 personnel and 39 pieces of equipment, focusing all efforts on extinguishing the fire and conducting the search. Once the blaze is fully out, they plan to investigate the exact cause and the extent of the damage.
