The Ministry of the Interior and Safety said on the 10th that it selected the Ministry of Science and ICT as an ad hoc awardee under the "special performance bonus" system introduced for the first time this year. The Ministry of Science and ICT will receive a 10 million won bonus.
The special performance bonus is a system designed to allow agency heads to award up to 30 million won to civil servants who achieve outstanding results, to spread a performance-oriented culture in the civil service. The Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) plans to run "as-needed awards" in parallel with year-end regular awards, immediately compensating operating agencies whenever excellent operating cases are identified.
Regarding this selection, the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS) said, "We established fair payment standards to fundamentally block so-called 'dividing the pie' side effects that can occur during the award process," and added, "By clearly distinguishing primary contributors from secondary contributors and paying bonuses differentially according to contribution, we secured both objectivity and fairness in rewards."
Kim Min-jae, Vice Minister of the Ministry of the Interior and Safety (MOIS), said, "The power to build a competent civil service comes from differentiated rewards for exceptional performance," and added, "We will create an environment where capable civil servants can feel pride and focus on their work by rapidly spreading a bold and fair compensation model across all ministries."
