Oh Se-hoon, the Seoul mayor, on the 10th criticized Chong Won-o, who was elected as the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral candidate, saying, "Judging Oh Se-hoon cannot be Seoul's vision," and, "This sounds like a declaration to return to 10 years of the failed Park Won-soon administration."
On the day, the mayor posted a message on social media (SNS) titled "The Seoul mayor must be a future architect" and stated accordingly.
The mayor said, "I extend my congratulations to candidate Chong Won-o on being elected the Democratic Party of Korea's Seoul mayoral candidate," and added, "Your first words after becoming the candidate were 'judge Oh Se-hoon's administration.' If you are a candidate who will be responsible for the fate of 10 million Seoul residents, your own vision and blueprint for the future should come first."
He continued, "Seoul residents have already experienced a devastating regression during the time that stood still," adding, "The position of Seoul mayor is not a simple civil complaint service desk."
The mayor also said, "We are future architects preparing Seoul for the next 10 and 20 years," and, "When we began Gwanghwamun Square, air quality improvements, the Hangang Renaissance, DDP, installing screen doors at all stations, and Wrist Doctor 9988, the Democratic Party of Korea hurled criticism, calling them 'a waste of taxes' and 'showy administration.'"
He went on to say, "If we had not started then, there would be no daily life of citizens enjoying the Han River, no landmarks the world is eager to visit, and no proud Seoul City of today."
The mayor said, "I watched the Democratic Party of Korea primary process, but I do not see a concrete roadmap or execution plan from candidate Chong Won-o on how he will prepare for Seoul's future," adding, "Now I hope candidate Chong Won-o will remove the 'myung-pick candidate' label and step out of the shadow of 'teacher Park Won-soon' to present a concrete vision and future."
