Police executed a search and seizure in connection with the fire at the Yeongdeok wind power plant that killed three workers.
The North Gyeongsang Provincial Police Agency said on the 6th that it deployed more than 40 investigators from the metropolitan investigation unit and labor inspectors and is executing a search and seizure of the Yeongdeok wind power plant.
In this search and seizure, authorities plan to examine whether safety measures to prevent accidents, such as fire prevention and evacuation steps, were properly implemented. However, an on-site forensic examination of the wind turbine where the accident occurred has not yet been conducted.
On Mar. 23 at about 1:11 p.m., a fire broke out in a wind turbine inside the wind farm in Changpo-ri, Yeongdeok-eup, Yeongdeok County, killing three employees. The employees who died had been repairing blade cracks and belonged to a wind turbine maintenance company; they were two in their 40s and one in his 50s, three in total.
