The bereaved family of a victim in the "Gangbuk motel drug serial killings" case filed a civil lawsuit for damages against Kim So-young, 20.
According to the family's legal representative on the 6th, the family filed a complaint seeking 31 million won in damages against Kim So-young with the Northern District Court in Seoul that day.
The total damage amount stated in the complaint is about 1.1 billion won. However, the actual claim is 31 million won, which was reportedly calculated in consideration of the offender's ability to pay.
The family sought 1 million won from Kim So-young's parents. The family's side explained it determined the parents also bear responsibility because Kim So-young had only recently become an adult.
Kim So-young was indicted and taken into custody last month on charges including murder and violations of the Narcotics Control Act for handing drinks laced with drugs to three men in their 20s from Dec. 14 last year to Feb. 9 this year, killing two of them and causing one to lose consciousness.
The first trial will be held at the Northern District Court at 2 p.m. on the 9th.
