A political YouTuber with more than 1 million subscribers was sent to prosecutors on suspicion of driving after drinking.
Seoul Gangnam Police Station said on the 5th that it recently referred YouTuber Sung Je-jun, 35, to the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office on suspicion of violating the Road Traffic Act (drunk driving).
Sung is suspected of driving a car after drinking at a store in Cheongdam-dong, Gangnam-gu, on Mar. 16. The blood alcohol concentration at the time was reportedly at a license-suspension level.
Police booked Sung on Mar. 19 and, after summoning and questioning, sent the case to prosecutors. Police also imposed a license suspension on Sung.
Sung explained on his YouTube channel that he was waiting for a designated driver when, at the request of the store after closing time, he only moved the car briefly. His YouTube channel has 1.06 million subscribers.
