A Chinese man accused of attacking with chopsticks and wielding a weapon because he thought others were mocking him has been handed over to prosecutors.
The Yeongdeungpo Police Station in Seoul said on Apr. 3 that at the end of March it referred a Chinese national in his 50s, identified as A, to the prosecution under arrest on charges of attempted murder and aggravated assault.
A is accused of approaching a parked vehicle near a restaurant in Yeongdeungpo District, Seoul, on the 27th, opening the rear door and assaulting the victim, then moving to the front of a bar and brandishing a weapon and chopsticks at the victim's party.
It was found that A, believing the victim's party staying at the same bar had mocked A, harbored a grudge, waited for the victim to come out, and committed the crime.
Police found that A was intoxicated at the time of the crime.
The male victim was reportedly at risk of losing sight due to optic nerve damage.
