SRT skips Cheonan-Asan stop, strands about 100 passengers in South Korea

A high-speed train passed through Cheonan-Asan Station in South Chungcheong without stopping.

At about 9:31 p.m. on the 2nd, an SRT train bound for Suseo passed straight through Cheonan-Asan Station, according to the Korea Railroad Corporation (KORAIL) and SRT.

Seventy-six passengers waiting to board at Cheonan-Asan Station and 30 who were trying to get off were unable to board or alight. The train stopped at the next station, Pyeongtaek Jije Station, and passengers who were trying to get off had to transfer to the next northbound train.

The likely cause of the incident is that the train entered a "through track" without a platform. KORAIL and SR are investigating the exact cause of the incident.
