YouTuber Tzuyang (real name Park Jeong-won)'s college classmate, accused of passing false information to another YouTuber that she eats food and vomits, was sentenced to a fine.
According to legal sources on the 30th, Kim Jae-hak, a single judge of the Criminal Division 11 of the Seoul Central District Court, issued a summary order on the 6th imposing a 7 million won fine on a person surnamed Oh, who was indicted on charges of defamation under the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection.
A summary order is a system in which, when the matter is relatively less serious, a property penalty such as a fine or minor fine is imposed through paper review without formal trial proceedings.
Oh is accused of providing false information in Nov. 2020 to YouTuber Jujak Gambyolsa (real name Jeon Guk-jin) to the effect that "Tzuyang vomited on the day she did the giant pasta mukbang after returning," and this was disclosed through a YouTube broadcast in July 2024.
In response, Tzuyang's agency filed a complaint against Oh with the Hyehwa Police Station in Seoul. The prosecution, which received the case in Dec. 2024 and conducted a supplemental investigation, summarily indicted Oh last month.
Jujak Gambyolsa, who had obtained the information from Oh, is in a finalized status of a 1-year prison term suspended for 3 years on charges of extorting tens of millions of won by threatening to disseminate Tzuyang's private life.
