Police on the 27th released the personal information of Park Wang-yeol, who was temporarily extradited on suspicion of distributing drugs in Korea while being held in a local prison in the Philippines.
The Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency convened a committee to review the disclosure of personal information that afternoon and released Park Wang-yeol's name, age, and mug shot. Park did not object to the disclosure.
After a detention warrant was issued for Park Wang-yeol that day, police posted his personal information on the Gyeonggi Northern Provincial Police Agency website. The posting period runs from that day through on the 27th of next month.
Park Wang-yeol's name and age were already known in connection with the "sugarcane field murder case," in which three Koreans were shot and killed in the Philippines, and on suspicion of distributing drugs in Korea while using the Telegram nickname "Jeonsegae." Local media in the Philippines had already published Park's real name and face.
However, the Ministry of Justice and investigative authorities have referred to Park's name as "Park ○○" in press releases and briefings. The extradition process, however, was broadcast live, and his face had already been disclosed.
